	IBEW Local 84 welcomes you to our website. Chartered on July 24^th, 1899, Local 84 now represents over 3000 men and women in the electrical industry across Georgia. Our members work at Georgia Power Company, Southern Nuclear, Amicalola EMC, Sawnee EMC, and multiple Outside Contractors. Our mission is to organize all workers in the electrical industry in order to provide a voice in the workplace, secure a higher standard of living, obtain security on the job and in retirement, and to promote safe and reasonable methods of work. ROME UNIT MEETING 84.9 IS RESCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 1 AT 730 PM

We will have construction in progress at our office for another couple of weeks. We ask that you please call our office prior to stopping by for safety reasons.

SELCAT will be hosting an EICA (Electrical Industry Certification Association) Crane

Certification Course August 19^th through August 23^rd, 2024, at our facility in Newnan, GA. We have 10 spots available and it is a first come first serve basis. The certification is open to Journeymen, Groundman and Operators (with at least 1 year experience operating cranes) who are employed with NECA Signatory Contractors in the Southeast OR are a member of an IBEW Local in the Southeast. The deadline for registration is July 1, 2024!!

The course will consist of an online prep course (to complete at home prior to the course), 3 days of classroom instruction, Written Exam(s) and the practical exam(s). Lodging at the SELCAT facility will also be available at no additional cost for individuals who are interested. The total cost of the course is $400.00 (plus a non-refundable textbook charge of $149.28 for the prep course) and is refundable after examinations to individuals who pass both the written and practical portions of the course. If you do not pass both sections, the registration fee will not be refunded. Also, class BA union members will NOT be refunded. The related assigned online bookwork must be completed by August 1, 2024!! Once this step is completed, you will receive the EICA application packet to complete and return to our office.
