      In Memoriam: Doyle W. Howard

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of former IBEW Business Manager, Doyle W. Howard.  Doyle dedicated his life to the labor movement. He was a union man through and through. He was a member of IBEW Local 84 for 40 years before his retirement in 2013 and before that he was a member of the UAW, ATU, and IAM. Doyle started his career with Georgia Power at Plant Bowen in 1973 and quickly became a Plant Steward in 1974. He was appointed as the Recording Secretary on the Executive Board in 1976 where he served until he became an Assistant Business Manager in 1980. He ran and won the election of Business Manager in 1986 and held the position until 1998. After a short break, he returned to the position of Business Manager in 2001 where he remained until his retirement. Doyle was the longest running Business Manager of Local 84 with 24 years in office. He also served as the Vice President of the Georgia AFL-CIO for a number of years.  We extend our deepest condolences to his family.
